Susan Beal Davis
A Celebration of life

Susan’s quote on Facebook was:
“I aspire to be the person my dog thinks I am”

SEPRA is very saddened to report that one of our family has lost her battle with brain cancer. Susan was a wonderful person and lit up any room she would walk into. So much of her life revolved around her love for her pugs and dogs in general. Her heart was full of compassion and she did a lot for SEPRA. She adopted from us, volunteered at many events, did numerous transports and was one of the Board of Directors for a time. She cared greatly about SEPRA and tried to help anywhere she could. Even after she was diagnosed she continued on the board and even volunteered at Pugfest last October.

Not only can we call her a fellow rescuer, but a dear friend. Her infectious sense of humor was a wonderful trait. Everyone loved hanging out with her and she made every event that much more fun. The world will be much quieter without her, but we feel sure she’s having a new party wherever she is now.

Susan, and her husband Charles, had 4 dogs at one point. Gizmo, a shih tzu, Jessie her first adopted pug and then came Shorty and later Nadine, both adopted from SEPRA. All their dogs were adored and even taken on vacation with them. Susan’s parents are also dog lovers and would care for the dogs when Susan and Charles traveled for treatments in Raleigh NC.

Susan lost her brother, Keith, in 2004; which means that her parents have now lost both children. Susan and Keith will be reunited now as well as Gizmo. Actually Susan has probably already been greeted by a bazillion dogs as her heart held that much love.

Charles and Susan’s parents have asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to SEPRA in Susan’s honor. We will let Charles know who has donated. Thank you to everyone and to Susan – we will miss you!  You may be gone from the present but know our friendship will live on in our memories and we will be reunited one day.

Donations in Susan's memory can be made here:
